Most of us loves to go through a few myths as most of these are fascinating. In fact, some of these actually harmless and sounds definitely fun. But there are some myths that are problematic. They just give air to some really problematic things of modern society. One of such things that has too many of myths around it is addiction. These are proper myths that have nothing to do with reality. These things actually make it tougher to deal with addiction as people are constantly getting molded in the wrong way. Some of these myths even prevent people from actually helping the addicts with anything meaningful. This situation has resulted in increasing native american women missing. The more people trust these things, the worse the situation gets. 

They are definitely not criminals

Many people distance themselves from addicts just because they look like criminals. They keep to themselves and care only about the substances. As their situation and looks start to change, many people just brand them as nothing better than criminals. In reality, they are victims of addiction which is doing nothing good to them. They might sometime behave in a violent way, but they are in need of serious help. Keeping distance from them will necessarily help you or your family members to stay safe. Rather providing help can be better for the addicts and the society alike. 

Addicts can control their urge

They cannot do that and that is reason why they are addicted. The inability to control the urge to get intoxicated has made them vulnerable. The idea that the whole thing is in their control and they do drugs or drinks only because they want is completely wrong. They have got depended on these things and these are controlling them now. Rather than blaming them for their situation, it is better to get some help for them.
